Hope That Saves

Right before our eyes the end times can be seen coming to pass as revealed in the bible. However the majority of people are showing a lack of concern as they can see what is happening around them but are doing very little to prepare for that day.  It seems as if everyone is in their own little world and they are not concerned about what is going on in the world. Some of these events don’t appear to be affecting them now but may in the future. The question of comes to mind are they making an effort to correct the world's standards that will affect their children. This is what happens when men close their eyes to the outside world and refuse to respond to what they perceive happening.

Christians on the other hand the majority of Christians can see the end times exploding in their face but are not attempting to bring the lost to the saving knowledge of Christ. Perhaps all that matters to the Christians is that they are saved. The world may not be interested in knowing how to be saved nevertheless will God justify our excuses for not taking the gospel to those Jesus died to save?

We can come up with all kind of excuses and I’m sure Satan can give you additional reasons to refrain from presenting the gospel to others. The fact is you cannot make disciples sitting on your duff especially when God commanded all men starting where you live to go into the world to make disciples.

How do people become disciples without hearing the salvation message, and how can they believe on Christ whom they have not heard about?  To accomplish God’s desire that no one would perish, the body of Christ must unite to let the world know that the father sent Christ to demonstrate the love and concern he has for mankind.

Jesus Christ was sent into the world for a number of reasons but primarily to deal with the sin of man. No one on earth can stand before God with a clear conscious because all have sinned. Sin is the act of rebellion against God’s authority and the guilt of sin prevents you from looking directly into God’s face.

Sin carries shame before God and God’s love for you demands tough love. It demands showering you with his love and affection of a different kind.  God demands peace and order in his family so those he loves must be disciplined to re-establish proper behavior.  God trains his children to love one another and show the father’s love for mankind.

The scripture reveals that God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). Again the scripture also reveals that God wants his family to be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me (John 17:23).  God’s love for mankind does not want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9) but to come to a saving Knowledge of Jesus Christ.

God wants all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of truth (1 Timothy 2:4).  God's solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and, "Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness (2 Timothy 2:19). Therefore unless you repent, you too will all perish (Luke 13:5).

Confessing the name of the Lord demands that you publically declare Jesus Christ is your Lord. However confessing the name of the Lord alone must be accompanied actions confirming the belief that Jesus died to atone for our sins, then God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10). Furthermore the scriptures state you were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (Ephesians 1:13).

Being marked in Jesus Christ includes the promise of the spirit – I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws (Ezekiel 36:26-27). God will help you to live acceptably before his eyes so you may have the abundant life (John 10:10).

Through these great and precious promises, you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires (2 Peter 1:4). Yet one thing prevents this message from being known to the world, how will they hear this message unless you live according to your beliefs and tell others why. In your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

It is not a message you have to beat down the throat of sinners for the fisherman knows that just because you throw a baited hook into the water doesn't guarantee that you will catch fish. In order to catch fish you may have to spend more time baiting the hook in sight of the fish. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised (Hebrews 10:36).

When godly men fail to serve God they permit the ungodly to decay unto worthlessness. Biblical history has made it clear that evil kings led men to sin and idolatry but the good kings led men to God. God disciplined the people who disobeyed him by allowing foreign nations to overrun their homeland.  However God’s people were also oppressed with the rest of the nation for not doing the will of God.

Look at what is happening in the world today. Large numbers of people are being killed just because they believe in Jesus Christ. ISIS has one message for its recruits, Kill – Kill  – Kill. It makes you wonder if this order came from the person who was a murderer from the beginning.

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

There is no message of hope found in the world coming from its leaders and things will only get worse when you sit on your duff and do nothing to improve the lives of others. Keep this fact in mind a man named Jesus changed the world’s outlook on life and sin. You may be only one person following Jesus having a purpose of improving the life of others by telling the world about Jesus Christ.  July 15, 2015
